Space on a touring coach is finite, so we ask everyone to pack into one soft bag of no more than 15kg, plus a small day pack. Every season a few guests arrive with a hard suitcase and immediately understand the problem.
The things that matter
Worn-in walking shoes or all-terrain sandals. Not new ones — the gorges are the wrong place to discover a blister.
A head torch. Genuinely essential, both inside Tunnel Creek and for finding the toilet at night.
Warm layers. Days sit around 26 to 31°C, but nights drop to 12 to 16°C and July can feel properly cold around the fire. Long pants, a warm top, and a beanie if you feel the cold.
Swimmers and a quick-dry towel. There is water most days, and you will regret being the one person who cannot get in.
A hat, sunscreen and sunglasses, water bottles for walks, and DEET-based insect repellent.
What gets left behind
Hairdryers and anything else needing mains power. Multiple pairs of shoes. Books you will not read — the evenings fill up with conversation. And more clothes than anyone wears: laundry stops happen, and nobody is judging your rotation.
Every guest receives a full information pack with a suggested list before departure, so you are not guessing.
